Looking for tips on how to get comfortable on your period? We’ve got you covered! In this blog, we are giving you advice on how to increase your comfort levels to take back the power.
The all-too-familiar period pains and bloating can make it difficult to get comfortable on your period. It can be tempting to curl up in a ball accompanied by Netflix and snacks (side note: there’s no shame in doing this!) But with work and other commitments, this isn’t always possible. We are here to help you take power over your period and discover how you can get comfortable on your period.
Wear loose clothing
This can understandably be difficult if you work somewhere that requires a uniform. But, try wearing loose and baggy clothing where possible. Having tight clothing that puts pressure on your abdomen is going to be super uncomfortable. Wearing bamboo or organic cotton underwear will help increase your comfort as this material is soft, moisture-wicking and breathable.
Be prepared
Tracking your period can help you keep tabs on when your period is coming so you can prepare in advance. Altering things in the lead up to your period, such as your diet, can help with symptoms such as cramping and bloating. Introducing more self-care into your routine in the lead up can also help. Things such as Epsom salt baths and diffusers with essentials oils can help keep you balanced and reduce pre-menstrual tension.
Heat pads
Heat pads or wheat bags are a saviour when it comes to reducing cramping pain. They are less bulky than water bottles if you are in and out of meetings or walking around. If you are on the go, it’s also helpful to place them in a backpack to warm your lower back as you walk.
Listen to your body
Your body will tell you what it needs and it’s super important to listen to increase your comfort levels. Often, symptoms are your body’s way of saying it needs something. Craving chocolate? This can be your bodies way of telling you it needs magnesium.
Switch to organic
Organic products are naturally soft and breathable – allowing airflow. This helps you feel more comfortable and gives a fresher feeling. They are free from fragrances and chlorine bleaching, decreasing the risk of irritation.
