We often get asked, does switching to organic cotton make a difference? Here, we caught up with two TOTM customers to discuss their experience when making the switch to organic period care. Keep reading to hear their #SwitchStories.
According to our consultant gynaecologist, Ms Anne Henderson, “Organic cotton products have a natural softness which is not present in synthetic fabric.” The vulva and vagina are sensitive parts of the body. So, when it comes to choosing products to use down there, softness is definitely important.
But it doesn’t stop there! Chemical additives such as fragrance or perfumes can disrupt the delicate pH balance in your vagina. Leading to uncomfortable symptoms such as itching.
Can organic period care reduce irritation?
Now, it’s important to understand that menstrual blood itself can also disrupt the vaginal pH balance, which is why regular changes and hygiene measures are really important when you’re on your period. But many of our customers tell us that when switching to organic they see a BIG difference. This includes increased comfort and less irritation.

Had you used organic cotton period care products before using TOTM?
“I have heard about it from a friend who is allergic to conventional products. But never used it myself.”

“Non-applicator tampons, Day pads and Liners.”
Have you noticed any improvements since switching to organic cotton?
“Yes, even now when I need to use conventional products other than organic cotton from TOTM, I come out with an itching reaction straight away.
I work as a carer and sometimes have very little time to look after myself during the shifts. These products provide a lot of comfort and peace of mind when it comes to the time of the month.”

“Yes, lots! Almost instantly I felt less discomfort and less pain inside. The itching I had experienced during my period for years and years was gone! I also noticed that whilst my period pains were still bad they were actually less painful after I switched. I will definitely be trying more of the range this month!
The packaging is great, I love that there is no plastic involved and that I can stick everything straight in the paper recycling bin. The performance of the applicator tampons is equal to any other brand I have used in over 12 years. I love the branding and again the fact that you donate to charity is really important to me. Also, delivery was super speedy!”
