Endometriosis Awareness Month 2018: 5 Key Ways to get Involved

Today marks the first day of Endometriosis Awareness Month. A month dedicated to making a noise about Endometriosis. A chance to raise much-needed awareness and support those suffering.

Endometriosis is, unfortunately, an overlooked and underdiagnosed life-changing, chronic condition. It takes an average of 7.5 years to diagnose, yet 1 in 10 women suffer from it. That’s over 1.5 MILLION women who endure unrelenting pain. Pain that affects every aspect of their lives each day. Let’s support Endo warriors everywhere and play an active part in making a difference. So, how can you get involved? Here are a few ideas:

Endo The Night:

Overdue a catch up with family or friends? Or simply want an excuse to throw a party? Well, this is the perfect opportunity! You can raise money for Endometriosis UK by organising a get together with your family and friends in March. It can be a dinner party, pamper night, quiz night, movie night or anything else you can think of.

When?

Arrange your ‘Endo the Night’ for any evening throughout March to take part.

How to get involved:

First off, organise your night in! Invite your family and friends and ask them for a small donation to attend or collect donations throughout the night. The idea is that you not only raise funds but also awareness by educating friends and family. The Endo The Night fundraising pack includes cocktail and mocktail recipes, a fun endometriosis themed quiz, balloons, cocktail umbrellas, a collection box and T-shirt logo.  Register your Endo the Night party with Endometriosis UK here.

Endomeet:

You may have spotted our period pioneer Jaimee Rae on our socials. Jaimee experienced first-hand how long it takes to diagnose Endometriosis, after waiting 13 years and multiple surgeries to get a confirmed diagnosis. After years of suffering and being told it was ‘all in her head’ she was fed up. Armed with a spray paint can, she sprayed the words ‘Endometriosis exists’ on the wall at the side of her house. This was the start of the incredible ‘Endowall: Rising awareness’ movement.

When?

The Endomeet is taking place on the 10th March in Cardiff.

How to get involved:

Bring your friends, family and partners along – everyone is welcome! Head down to Cathays Sports and Social club at 4 pm, pay £3 on the door and join a community of inspiring people to support women with Endometriosis. Entry will give you a strip of raffle tickets, there will be live music and stands from brands (including us!). Plus, there will be an opportunity for karaoke – what more could you want?

All money raised will go towards funding Jaimee’s inspiring Endowall movement. An awareness movement telling the world that Endometriosis exists, and that reminds sufferers they are not alone.

The Yellowbelly Ball:

Can’t get to Cardiff for Jaimee’s event? Jody Stewart, leader of the Lincoln support group for Endometriosis, has organised the Yellow Belly ball. All of the ticket funds will be going towards Endometriosis UK.

When?

The ball will be held on the 10th March, starting at 19:00 until late.

How to get involved:

Grab your black tie or ball gown and head down to the Hilton DoubleTree in Lincoln. Tickets are £42.00 and include an arrival drink, 3-course meal and entertainment throughout the night. You can find more details or grab yourself a ticket here:

EndoMarch:

The EndoMarch is a global movement. People all over the world will be taking to the streets armed with banners and posters, marching to raise awareness of this life-impacting condition.

When?

The Endomarch takes place on the 24th March.

How to get involved:

You can march wherever you are in the world. To find out all the details for the Endomarch in your area head here. Can’t make the date or can’t find one in your area? There will also be a virtual EndoMarch! All the details will be released soon on the previous link.

Yellow for Endo:

Throughout Endometriosis Awareness Week, we’ll be turning our socials yellow to signify Endometriosis and show our support. We will be sharing lots of guest blogs from Endo sufferers, including Endo flare up tips and more throughout March!

When?

Endometriosis Awareness Week takes place from the 3-9 March, but you can take part throughout the whole of the month!

How to get involved:

All you have to do is simply make sure the photos you share across social are yellow!

Whether you choose to take part in one of these events, all of them or even if you simply make some noise about Endometriosis, it’s all awareness. Awareness that is critically needed to improve lives across the world.

Don’t forget with every box you purchase from us, we donate 10p to Endometriosis UK (all year round!). Endometriosis UK provide information and support to Endo sufferers (and their families!).
